Why Identity Verification is Important

Identity verification is a new legal requirement introduced to enhance the integrity of the Companies House register. It aims to:

• Deter the misuse of companies for illegal activities
• Reduce the risk of fraud
• Improve transparency, trust, and the accuracy of corporate information

Who Must Verify Their Identity?

You are required by law to verify your identity if you are:

• A director
• An LLP member, general partner, or managing officer (i.e., the equivalent of a director)
• A person with significant control (PSC) over a company

How to Verify

You can verify your identity in one of the following ways:

1. Directly with Companies House – Online or via the Post Office
2. Through an authorised Corporate Service Provider – such as I&I Accountants
